Commercial property consultants FG Burnett Ltd have acted on behalf of bookmakers William Hill in the sale of a retail property in Arbroath.
The 1700 sq ft retail unit at 155-159 High Street has been sold to Dundee fashion retailer Ozzy’s for a premium in the region of £150,000. The new store is undergoing a major shop fit and will trade under the company’s Arkive brand, adding to its existing outlet in Dundee’s Seagate.
William Hill have moved to larger premises at 233 High Street which was previously occupied by decorating suppliers FADS.
FG Burnett surveyor, Kevin Jackson, said the deals were positive news for retailing in the Angus town. He said: “Both these transactions are good news in retailing terms and indicate that Arbroath’s shopping district is an attractive proposition for well established brands.
“With William Hill opting for bigger premises Arkive is returning to the town where it first launched in 1997, which is good news for consumers and shows that the local commercial property market is alive and kicking.”
Arkive partner, Valy Ossman, said: “Arbroath is where we started out and we are delighted these premises have become available to pave the way for our return home.
“Our Arkive brands, which include the likes of G-Star, Diesel, Firetrap and Henleys, are universally popular and we are looking forward to adding to the diversity and quality of Arbroath’s existing retailers.”
