New Deals Indicate Buoyancy Of Aberdeen City Centre Retail Market

FG Burnett has today indicated that Aberdeen City Centre’s commercial property market remains buoyant with two acquisitions and one new letting recently being completed.
220 Union Street has recently been acquired by the Scottish commercial property consultancy on behalf of Digby Brown Solicitors. Having worked closely with FG Burnett’s building consultancy division to monitor landlord works, prepare a schedule of condition and overseeing the tenants fit out works, the team at Digby Brown expect to make their move into the premises in early summer.
133-135 Holburn Street has also been acquired by FG Burnett on behalf of Indigo Sun Retail Ltd. The firm has signed a 15-year lease with a break option at year 5. This will be the fifth outlet that the tanning salon has opened in the Granite City.
Unit 3, 157-165 Union Street, formerly The Works, will open its doors to Blacks Outdoor Ltd, trading as Millets. The UK’s largest family outdoors retailer, which formerly traded at 167-169 Union Street has relocated to premises which offer the store a more prominent location under a 10-year lease. Millets also have the option to break at year 5.
Richard Noble, Director at FG Burnett comments, “We are seeing a continued demand for retail space in the city centre, and a real sense of positivity from small to medium sized businesses.
“Our City Centre continues to boast a vibrant mix of retailers, cafes, offices and residential properties in what is a very unique and attractive business location.”
Richard adds, “With new developments such as the Silver Fin building also underway on Union Street, businesses will take this opportunity to take advantage of what that will bring in the medium term – both in terms of footfall and new prospects.
“We would like to welcome these businesses to their new locations and we are delighted to play our part in the continued development of Aberdeen.”
